THE INTERNAL COMPLAINTS COMMITTEE

AKIM believes that the principles of justice, humanity and dignity should be dispensed irrespective of caste, creed, social status and gender of a person. Therefore in keeping with the ethos of this institution, the Internal Complaints Committee has been formed to address the issues under Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Students in Higher Educational Institutions Regulations, 2015. The committee is formed to provide protection against sexual harassment of students in the campus and for the prevention and redressal of complaints of sexual harassment and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the Internal Complaint Committee to Prevent Sexual Harassment of students at college premises are as follows:

1. To develop a policy against sexual harassment of women/student at the Institute.
2. To evolve a permanent mechanism for the prevention and redressal of sexual harassment cases and other acts of gender-based violence at the Institute.
3. To ensure the implementation of the policy in letter and spirit through proper reporting of the complaints and their follow-up procedures.
4. To uphold the commitment of the Institute to provide an environment free of gender-based discrimination.
5. To create a secure physical and social environment to deter any act of sexual harassment.
6. To promote a social and psychological environment to raise awareness on sexual harassment in its various forms.

PROGRAM ORIENTATION

• The committee will arrange programs on awareness on harassment and discrimination in the workplace and at other times, as is deemed necessary.
• The committee will admit complaints from
  • Female students on harassment and discrimination in the classroom and in relation to academic activities by faculty.
  • Female residents on harassment, assault and other forms of misbehavior by students.
• The committee will follow relevant Acts, Rules, OM of Government of India and court orders, etc. as applicable from time to time
• The committee will institute Enquiry Committee as it deems fit to examine particular complaints.
• The committee will make recommendations on action to be taken on specific complaints.
